Children's Miracle Network
Each year, the Children's Miracle Network (CMN) broadcasts its television
fundraiser on the first weekend following Memorial Day. Two hundred
stations in the United States and Canada, including WITN-7 in Greenville,
New Bern, Washington, show the program. University Health Systems of Eastern
Carolina's Children's Hospital is one of 170 hospitals that benefit from
this broadcast.
As a fundraising program of the Pitt Memorial Hospital Foundation, all money
raised by the Children's Miracle Network program stays right here in eastern
North Carolina to support Children's Hospital and help to provide much needed
programs, equipment and services for children in the 29 counties it serves.
Our Children's Hospital treats children with all types of illnesses and
injuries, including cancer, heart, muscular, birth defects, cerebral palsy,
and traumatic injuries.
The Pitt Memorial Hospital Foundation approves all Children's Hospital
allocations from donated funds. In addition, CMN funds have been used to
support capital projects, such as 50-bed state-of-the-art neonatal intensive
care unit, to purchase special equipment for Children's Hospital, to provide
a broad range of educational programs and to supplement pediatric programs
at regional hospitals. CMN has also supported programs that promote injury
prevention, child advocacy and the management of pediatric asthma. Each
summer, CMN helps send children with chronic diseases such as asthma,
diabetes, cancer, sickle cell and other blood disorders to special summer
camps.
